The Finals is played in the future where the player moves around an arena style environment with the map as its center. Imagine Tron Legacy Disc Wars meets Extraction in a close quarter style map with numerous levels and opportunities for destruction. The premise is that you are a fisherman, of course, but you explore and traverse a HUGE open world in (currently) three game reserves, choosing where you want to fish, how, and for what. You can customize your kit, add boats and vehicles to your garage, upgrade fishing gear, and level up your expertise and rankings in several different ways. The game is filled with achievements and the scenery is amazingly well built and beautiful. Slog through water and muddy terrain, experience mosquitos buzzing in your ear, fish will taunt you by jumping out of the water right in front of your line, and even hear the grunts and screams of God-knows-what lurking in the woods.

It was random weekend in the summer of 2017 when I realized how awesome online multiplayer gaming could be. Not more than a week later, I found out how truly awful it could also be. Both events changed my gaming habits forever. How I got to this place... I've been a long time console gamer. My first experience with gaming came in the form of an old hand-me-down Coleco Telstar system, hooked up to the RF adapter on my parents' Cadillac-sized television back in the early-80's. Playing several different versions of what was essentially Pong had me hooked. I loved that thing. Fast forward through several Nintendo systems, Atari, Gameboys, and the original Playstation, I ended up on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
