Welcome to the Pork Chop Platoon official “about page.” Below, you will find a plethora of information about the Pork Chop Platoon (or PCP as we call it). On this page, you will learn about the origins of PCP, learn about the Community’s values, and we hope that it will become clear why Pork Chop Platoon has outlasted more gaming communities than we can shake a bucket of slop at.

We will also provide you with several links to other helpful tools, pages, and sections of this website and blog.

Pork Chop Platoon General Overview

The Pork Chop Platoon (PCP) has been one of the premier gaming communities for older gamers on the Xbox console since 2007. Our co-ed community consists of members from across the US and Canada as well as Ireland, England, Scotland and Australia. We believe our success is driven by our amazing members and our three simple philosophies:

    • Continuously recruit the highest quality members with skill level never being a prerequisite
    • Maintain a fun, informative, and active forum along with a mobile (Discord) and social media presence (Twitter and Facebook)
    • Host a weekly Community Night that offers an opportunity to try a variety of titles and game with as many members as possible

Along with an active online presence in both our forums and on Xbox Live, we also host an annual LAN party that is attended by 50+ members each year. There is lots of gaming as well as a golf outing, trip to a ball game, raffle, and a world-famous BBQ by our own @BigHeadJoshy!

If you find that you are tired of gaming alone or being stuck in lobbies listening to prepubescent bullshit you should look at joining PCP. We play all of the popular titles (and a bunch of the unpopular ones) and we never take the game or ourselves too seriously.

Pork Chop Platoon Goals, Values, and Purpose

The Pork Chop Platoon founders @Lord and @Slee wanted to build something bigger than themselves that could continue, even if they stepped away. Their view on recruiting and membership was and remains quality vs quantity. The way they saw it, if they brought in good people they, in turn, would bring in other good people. The point was to create a culture that was fun and where no one took the game or themselves too seriously. Basically, they created an online family where relationships transcended the video games. To this day—more than 12 years later—these tenets guide whatever the Community plans to do.

Our community, its founders, and its officers continue to attract like-minded members. We focus on retention, not just bringing in ‘numbers.’ When we say “No Pig Left Behind”, we mean it. There are no cliques in the Community, so any Pig—be they a 12 year Veteran or a 12 day recruit—is as welcome in a party as any other. Even the site is a testament to our values and staying true to ourselves and our mission. You will notice that the Community does not monetize through ads, merchandise sales, dues, or subscriptions!
