Recently MTV had the chance to sit down with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and asked him about the failed “Doom” adaptation and if he would considering starring in another video game movie.
“I think if the right one came along,” he said. “I thought we had an opportunity with ‘Doom.’ Didn’t work out the way we wanted it to, creatively. But yeah, if the right opportunity came along and the script is good, sure.”
When asked if he has a certain project in mind that he would love to take on, Johnson replied: “‘[Call of Duty] Black Ops,’ that would be bad-ass. Let’s make it happen.”
Activision Blizzard has filed to protect the trademark “Call of Duty” in relation to movies back in 2009. So there’s a chance that a “Call of Duty” film may happen one day.
It isn’t as if Hollywood isn’t already involved with the series, take a look at the voice talent from the last few games – Sam Worthington, Ed Harris, Gary Oldman, Ice Cube, Topher Grace, Kevin McKidd, Lance Henriksen, Barry Pepper, Keith David and Kiefer Sutherland just to name a few.
There has been talk previously of a Call of Duty film, especially after the industry shattering records of the latest installments.
Johnson was previously attached to star as the lead in an adaptation of Spy Hunter, a video game that Johnson also appeared in as that same character. That never went anywhere though and the franchise is dead.
Given the failed track record of Johnson and movie adaptations of video games, maybe keeping him away from the Call of Duty franchise is a wise choice…

A Call of Duty film would be an instant best seller in my opinion. Every teenager and wannabe teenager would want to see what they can do with it.
