Games in themselves are fun, that’s why we play them. But let’s be honest, spending the majority of your time in the respawn can become annoying and frustrating. No one wants to be frustrated while they are trying to relax. Especially as an older gamer, when the responsibilities of life can make opportunities for console gaming rare. In this installment I lay down my top ten game play tips for Modern Warfare 2, so you can fucking live better!
1. Use tactical movements. Stick close to walls, crouch, and “strafe”. Go prone. Make yourself a smaller target. Don’t be the old carnival game where you shoot the ducks as they pass by. You don’t win a stuffed animal by being dead the most.
2. Use iron sights. Using iron sights does a few things, it opens up the ability to use other attachments without needing bling. Most of you know me, I prefer something other than toobs, but to each their own. Try a silencer every now and then or a grip on a LMG. It also makes you more accurate. As you get better you will find that you can get on target and stay on target better than those that have to rely on optics.
3. Use cover to your advantage. This goes hand in hand with #1. Shoot through holes in walls. Shoot through windows, but don’t stick your gun and head out the window, shoot from the back of the room.
4. Realize that you can shoot and be shot through cover. This goes with #1 & #3. Use it is to your advantage, but it won’t make you indestructible. Shooting through a wall, if not getting you a kill, might move your enemy to the point where you can. When selecting cover, the thicker the better.
5. Put away the noob tube in close quarter combat. It takes space to allow it to arm and explode. Yes, you might get an impact kill, but more often than not you will end up shooting a dud and you’re dead.

6. FYI, blinking flags/objectives in objective games mean something. They didn’t do it just for decoration. Before a HQ or Domination point is captured, if it’s blinking it’s being captured by your team. After a HQ or Domination point is captured by your team and it’s blinking, it means the enemy team is capturing it.
7. Use situation specific weaponry. If the map or game type would be better suited for stealth, equip a silencer and run Cold- Blooded and Ninja. If you can get away with running & gunning, you can go to Lightweight & Marathon. Trying to use the wrong setup for map/game type can lead to the frustration and more often than not, a loss.
8. Speaking of a loss, the most important stat is Win/Loss ratio, not Kill/Death ratio. There is no I in TEAM. You can finish at the top of the leaderboard in kills, but you don’t earn shit talking rights unless you win! Remember that Timmy.
9. Dying is worse than not killing. In almost all game modes dying will negatively impact your team more than not killing. If you aren’t setting the world on fire, it’s not a big deal, just do what you can.
10. Set up your killstreaks to match the map, game type, and your ability. Playing Hardcore mode? Then rethink the sentry gun. The sentry gun relies on people not using Cold -Blooded. More than half the players playing HC are using Cold-Blooded. Even if you get a kill with it, I bet it doesn’t stay around long. Don’t equip the nuke if you’ve never gotten more than a 7 killstreak. UAV’s are just as important and come way more often than AC130′s & Chopper Gunners.
Remember, here in the Pork Chop Platoon you are never judged by your skill level. F’n Live Better is intended to provide you with knowledge on how to improve your strategic gameplay experice. Strategy, living, killing and dying are just part of what makes the COD experience fun, the rest is up to you.
great article nobs. especially that part about important stats. Win/Loss will always be a more important stat IMO than K/D
Great article ‘nob’s. Awesome pic too!
Great article Nobs, way to focus on the key points. I will do my best to F’ing live better I promise!
i like the fact that you mentioned walking crouched and or using Ninja. I stress this because without either you make a SH!T load of noise not only to people with good headsets but also the MS headsets can hear ya on certain flooring like metal grates/stairs or wood floors above or below you. Also the silencer, when used you don’t show up as a red dot for everyone to flock to you to get a kill. Great article Nobs.
Very good article. These are the same tips seen everywhere else, so they are definitely all true. These are the tips I’ve utilized to step up my game from when I got MW2 back at Christmas time. I was new to FPS in the sense I hadn’t played any since the Doom-clone & Goldeneye 007 times and these have brought me up from an average of 1-3 kills to 9-15 (on a good day, lolz).
i think of k/d like tackles in football and the last time i checked you can not get into the playoffs with a $*#tload of tackles.
Great article B… I’ll do my best not to be a bullet sponge.
“Don’t be the old carnival game where you shoot the ducks as they pass by. You don’t win a stuffed animal by being dead the most.”
I’d like to know why not…
The flashing objective is key and I think too many people either ignore it to sustain a killstreak (that means you, Timmy!) or assume that their teammates are taking care of the problem. Nice write up Nobs and it can help players of all skill levels get more enjoyment out of the game.
Also, don’t hide behind cars that haven’t been blown up. They will get blown up and you will die.
ill agree with all you said ,except for me on this iteration of cod, i cant for the life of me hit a frikkin thing with the iron sights they are positively a must have. but when i watch killcam id say 90% of the other guys use iron
Good stuff nobs. Got me thinkin I am havin better luck with the scar without optics than the acr with!!
